Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro193 of human TEX264 protein.
Background
TEX264 (testis expressed gene 264) is a single-pass transmembrane protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) that plays a key role in the clearance of damaged ER via the selective autophagic process of ER-phagy (1,2). It contains an LC3 interacting region (LIR) acting as a bridge from the ER to Atg8 family members, LC3 and GABARAP, on the autophagosome. Phosphorylation of TEX264 by casein kinase 2 can enhance its interaction with Atg8 family members (3). TEX264-mediated ER-phagy has been observed in pathological conditions, including acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity and in neuroinflammation associated with Alzheimer’s Disease (4,5). TEX264 has also been found to contribute to genomic stability through association with the VCP ATPase promoting TOP1-mediated DNA repair (6).
