    Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Met629 of human Neurexin-3 protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.

    Background

    Neurexins are a family of highly polymorphic cell surface proteins that contain single transmembrane regions and extracellular domains with repeated sequences similar to Laminin A, Slit, and Agrin, proteins that are implicated in axon guidance and synaptogenesis (1,2). The family includes Neurexin-1, -2, and -3 (NRXN1, NRXN2, and NRXN3). Each member of the Neurexin family undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in α- and β-forms of Neurexin. α-Neurexins contain 6 LNS-domains (laminin/neurexin/sex-hormone-binding globulin domains). β-Neurexins are transcribed from an internal promoter of their respective genes and are composed of an N-terminal β-Neurexin-specific sequence that splices into the α-Neurexin sequence N-terminal of its LNS6 domain, generating what is effectively an N-terminally truncated α-Neurexin with a short N-terminal β-Neurexin motif. γ-Neurexins are only transcribed from the NRNX1 gene and splices into the NRXN1α and NRXN1β sequence of what encodes the C-terminal of the LNS6 domain (3).
