    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

GP130 (E6X8S) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total GP130 protein. Species reactivity for IF-IC is human only.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat

The antigen sequence used to produce this antibody shares 100% sequence homology with the species listed here, but reactivity has not been tested or confirmed to work by CST. Use of this product with these species is not covered under our Product Performance Guarantee.

Species predicted to react based on 100% sequence homology:

Hamster, Bovine, Dog, Pig, Horse, Rabbit

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gln775 of human GP130 protein.

    Background

GP130 is a signal-transducing subunit shared by the receptors for the interleukin-6 (IL-6) family of cytokines (1-3). The binding of a ligand to its receptor induces the dimerization of GP130, leading to activation of the Jak tyrosine kinase and to tyrosine phosphorylation of GP130. These events lead to the activation of multiple signal-transduction pathways, such as the Stat, Ras-MAPK, and PI3 kinase pathways, whose activation is controlled by distinct regions of GP130 (4-7).
