    Storage

Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, 50% glycerol, and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at –20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

Glut2 (F6X2X) Rabbit mAb recognizes endogenous levels of total Glut2 protein. This antibody does not cross-react with Glut1, Glut3, Glut4, or Glut5 protein. This antibody detects a 35 kDa and a 160 kDa protein of unknown identity in some cell lines.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human Glut2 protein.

    Background

Glucose transporter 2 (Glut2), also known as SLC2A2, is a facilitated hexose transporter. It transports glucose, fructose, and galactose (1-3). Glut2 is expressed in various tissues, such as liver, small intestine, kidney, pancreatic β cells, and central nervous system (1,4). In addition, Glut2 is a marker of mature pancreatic β cells and is required for glucose-stimulated insulin secretion there (1,5). Furthermore, a mutation on human Glut2 protein expressed in Xenopus oocytes where Val197 is changed to isoleucine was shown to abolish its transport activity (6).
