    Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Asp70 of human FcRL3 protein.

    Background

    FcRL3 (Fc receptor-like protein 3, IRTA3, FcRH3) is a member of the Fc receptor-like family of proteins, which show high structural homology to classical Fc receptors in their extracellular domains (1,2). FcRL3 is a type I transmembrane protein, containing a long cytoplasmic tail with one ITAM, one ITIM, and an ITAM-like region (1,2). FcRL3 is primarily expressed in B lymphocytes in lymph nodes and germinal centers, although it has also been found in NK cells and subsets of T cells (1-6). Functional variants of the FcRL3 gene have been associated with autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), autoimmune thyroiditis, and autoimmune pancreatitis (3-6). FcRL3 has inhibitory potential on BCR-mediated signaling, possibly through the association of ITIMs with phosphatases SHIP, SHP-1, and SHP-2 (4).
