    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Pro455 of human E4BP4/NFIL3 protein.

    Background

E4BP4/NFIL3 is a basic leucine zipper transcriptional regulator that plays a variety of roles in the immune system (1). For example, E4BP4/NFIL3 is required for bone marrow-derived NK cell development (2,3). In addition, it regulates IgE class switching in B cells by controlling IL-4 dependent induction of germ-line ε (GLε) transcription (4). In macrophages, E4BP4/NFIL3 is induced following exposure to bacteria and negatively regulates transcription of IL-12 p40. E4BP4/NFIL3 also controls cytokine production by T cells. Th2 cells from E4BP4/NFIL3(-/-) mice produced elevated levels of IL-5 an IL-13, but reduced levels of IL-4 ad IL-10 (5,6). Chronically stimulated Th1 cells, regulatory T cells, and NKT cells from E4BP4/NFIL3(-/-) mice all produce reduced levels of IL-10 and IL-13 (6). Finally, E4BP4/NFIL3 is also required for the development of conventional CD8α+ dendritic cells, as this subset is absent from E4BP4/NFIL3(-/-) mice (7).
