Source / Purification
Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of human CHMP2A protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.
Background
CHMP2A is a component of ESCRT-III (endosomal sorting complex required for transport-III) (1,2). The ESCRT system is comprised of multiple protein complexes denoted as ESCRT-0, -I, -II, and -III, and VPS4 ATPase that are recruited to various cellular membranes and function fission reactions (3,4). Yeast contains four core ESCRT-III subunits: Vps20, Snf7, Vps24, and Vps2. Humans share these subunits and additionally have four Snf7 paralogs (CHMP4A-D) and two Vps2 paralogs (CHMP2A and B). The ESCRT-III complex comprising CHMP2A is involved in various membrane events, including multivesicular bodies, viral budding, cytokinesis, nuclear membrane reformation, and phagophore closure during autophagy and mitophagy (5-9).
