    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the carboxy terminus of mouse CD84 protein.

    Background

Cluster of Differentiation 84 (CD84), also known as signaling lymphocytic activation molecule family member 5 (SLAMF5), is a membrane glycoprotein expressed by numerous immune cell types, including hematopoietic progenitor cells, T cells, B cells, NK cells, macrophages, monocytes, dendritic cells, platelets, mast cells, and thymocytes (1-9). CD84 is a homophilic adhesion molecule involved in modulating the activation, differentiation, proliferation, and cytotoxicity of a wide variety of immune cells, and thus is involved in the regulation and interconnection of both the innate and adaptive immune response (6-14). Certain CD84 activities are regulated by the presence or absence of small cytoplasmic adaptor proteins, SH2D1A/SAP and/or SH2D1B/EAT-2 (5,14). Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
