    Product Information

    Product Usage Information

    Application Dilution
    Western Blotting 1:1000
    Immunofluorescence (Frozen) 1:100 - 1:200

    Storage

Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/ml BSA and 50% glycerol. Store at –20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

    Protocol

    Specificity / Sensitivity

α-Synuclein Antibody detects endogenous levels of total synuclein protein. Non-specific labeling of cytoplasm in human cells and non-specific labeling of the mucosae in fixed frozen mouse colon may be observed by immunofluorescence.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat

    Source / Purification

Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the carboxy terminus of mouse synuclein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography.

    Background

α-Synuclein is a protein of 140-amino acids expressed abundantly in the brain. α-Synuclein is also the main component of pathogenic Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites. Research studies have shown that mutations of the α-Synuclein gene are linked to Parkinson's disease (1).
