MAGI3-Akt3 Fusion Protein (D4D3P) Rabbit mAb recognizes transfected MAGI3-Akt3 fusion protein.

    Species Reactivity:

    Human

    Source / Purification

Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding the fusion site of MAGI3-Akt3 fusion protein.

    Background

MAGI3-Akt3 fusion was first detected in triple-negative breast cancer tissues in a sequence analysis research study (1). Rearrangement occurs between the genes MAGI3 (membrane-associated guanylate kinase, WW and PDZ domain containing 3) on chromosome 1p and Akt3 on chromosome 1q, leading to a translocation from intron 9 in MAGI3 to intron1 of Akt3. This rearrangement yields an in-frame fusion gene that translates into a MAGI3-Akt3 fusion protein. Overexpression studies show that MAGI3-Akt3 fusion protein leads to the constitutive activation of Akt kinase (1). Further research studies demonstrate that this fusion is not a recurrent event in triple-negative breast cancer (2,3).
