Human TGF-β2 Recombinant Protein #27615

    Product Information

    Storage

Human TGF-β2 Recombinant Protein is supplied as a lyophilized material that is very stable at -20ºC. It is recommended to reconstitute with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/mL which can be further diluted in aqueous solutions as needed. Addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended for long-term storage.

Once in solution, store at 4ºC and use within 1 month, or store at -20ºC to -80ºC and use within 3 months to prevent loss of potency. Aliquot to avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles if storing reconstituted material at -20ºC to -80ºC.

    Product Description

    MW (kDa) 12.7
Purity A greater than 95% purity was determined by SDS-PAGE.
Endotoxin Endotoxin levels are less than 1 EU/ 1 μg hTGF-β2.
    Activity

The bioactivity of recombinant TGF-β2 was measured by mouse HT-2 cells. The ED50 is < 0.2 ng/mL.

    Source / Purification

Recombinant human TGF-β2 was expressed in 293 cells and is supplied in a lyophilized form.

    Background

Transforming growth factor beta-2 (TGF-β2) is produced by eosinophils, astrocytes, glioblastoma, and other cancer derived cell types (1-6). TGF-β2 inhibits antigen-induced T cell proliferation, inhibits epithelial cell proliferation, induces mesenchymal cell proliferation, and has cell-specific effects on apoptosis (1-8). TGF-β2 binds to TβRII, and TβRIII promotes binding. TβRI then complexes with TβRII and TβRIII (3,5). Signaling involves phosphorylation of the SMAD proteins (2,3,9). TGF-β2 also activates Erk2, p38, and JNK pathways (9). Knockout of TGF-β2 in mice severely impacts heart, lung, and eye development (10).
